This 1956 Porsche 356A Super Coupe, which was once the definition of the German sports car, is now a rusted relic. Back in Time

In the summer of 1956, this model of 356A was sold brand new at a Porsche-Volkswagen dealership. After spending roughly two years in Europe, the car made its way to the U.S. It arrived in the states decked in an elegant Aquamarine Metallic paint along with a gray-toned leather interior. The car was equipped with a 1,582 cc super engine, typed 616/2, which helped in developing a sporty power of 75 hp. It also featured a 1.6-liter flat-four, uprated air-cooling, and a four-speed manual transmission.

Current Status

It may seem far-fetched, but this worn-down Porsche has been on the road until very recently, thanks to its previous Virginia-based owner, who paid for a mechanical restoration and used it as a leisure car on weekends. Despite the wear and tear caused by time, the Porsche 356A surprisingly retains most of its original leather upholstery, a vintage Telefunken radio, numbered body panels, a perfectly date-coded fuel tank, and matching numbers for the 1600 Super engine. The auction sale, which will be held on March 4, will also include a Porsche Kardex copy, a factory jack, and a partial tool kit. The Customized Features

The seller of this particular model has repaired and replaced several major parts, like the air-conditioning compressor and the tires, making the car ready to hit the open road. Though the brand already sold a factory-built camper version of this Vanagon model with a pop-top roof, this one is customized with a different pop-top roof for extra sleeping space, installed by the Country Home Campers, located in Santa Cruz, California.
