The 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray is the latest addition to the assortment of America’s favorite sports cars. The previous mid-engined C8 Corvette showed the potential innovations that the makers had in mind for this new launch. After the launch of the eight-generation Chevy Corvette, the manufacturing giant’s plan ahead was essentially announced through the appearance of the car which gave an impression that something was amiss.
A Powerhouse
The E-Ray cleared the suspicion with a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack in place of the motor engine. Made up of 80 refrigerant-chilled LG Chem pouch-type cells and a liquid-cooled power inverter, it was designed to gain and lose charge quickly, monitored through the infotainment section of the car. For efficiency, the hybrid system recharges when you coast, brake, or use the Charge+ function while driving and puts in extra power when accelerating. Truly the first production Vette of its kind, the car has an all-wheel drive along with a hybrid AWD variant powertrain through which the performance is lifted to another level. With a weight of around 100 pounds, the car is driven by an 80-pound permanent-magnet synchronous AC motor giving 160 horsepower.
State-of-the-Art Components

The 495-hp 6.2-liter V-8 taken from the Stingray Z51 with the electric motor delivers a total of 655 horsepower. Expected to return a total of 19 mpg like the Stingray, with the purely electric drive, the E-Ray runs for the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds, becoming the fastest Corvette with a top speed above 180mph. The E-Ray is also the first production car with carbon-ceramic rotors and all-season tires. The vehicle features magnetorheological dampers, with an elongated yoke at the lower attachment point on the front dampers with a raised shock tower and a redesigned crossmember to increase the structural rigidity. Launching in the fall, the E-Ray will have two prices for the customers: $111,295 for the convertible and $104,295 for the targa.
Hyundai Is Giving Customers The Blueprints To Build This Vehicle At Home
Let’s face it; many of us have been stuck at home for too long in 2020. Hyundai looks to solve our boredom by giving customers the blueprints to build this vehicle at home.
Looking For A Project
With many people still spending more time at home than they might like, it’s important to have projects that keep us busy. Some people have taken up baking, while others are painting to pass the time. Not everyone feels that artistic, though, and some people like to get their hands dirty and work with cars.
Hyundai has the answer for everyone mechanically-minded after releasing the blueprints to this amazon soapbox car. The South Korean car manufacturer has been bringing sound technology to its customers for years, and it’s time to give something back.
The Downhill Rush
To allow friends and family to spend quality time together, Hyundai released a design blueprint that can be put together using standard building materials. The details are on offer for free and anyone feeling like taking up the project can.
Although it’s not built in compliance with the American Soap Box Derby regulations, it’s still a fun way to spend the time with friends and family. Parents are encouraged to take on the build with their children as only kids can fit inside.
Strategic Approach
Hyundai explained that their approach to building the soapbox was the same as any other car the Korean manufacturer creates. Engineers first designed the chassis before designers sketched the body and created it virtually using a 3D modeling system. While Hyundai’s soapbox is painted yellow to “capture the optimism and joy of childhood,” the company welcomed people getting creative with personalizing however they want.
Hyundai has generously put time and research into making this soapbox car a reality. Amazingly, the company is giving the blueprint away for free in the hopes of spreading joy around the world.
