One of the best places to get your hands on used cars is at a police auction. They’re usually packed full of vehicles that have been impounded and never claimed, which means you can get your hands on a real bargain. However, it seems as though Michigan Police held the car auction of the century when they got their hands on this 1969 Plymouth GTX Convertible.

An Abandoned Car
It seemed like an episode of Storage Wars when the Leelanau County Sheriff came across this beauty abandoned in a storage unit. Located near Traverse City, the private storage unit was abandoned and so the authorities decided to search the VIN to see who the owner was… Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for us), nothing came up. The car was as abandoned as the storage unit, meaning it was fair game for the authorities.

Going Up For Auction
The 1969 Plymouth GTX Convertible is a real find, as it’s pretty much in perfect condition. The paintwork looks like it has been well kept, as it looks like a cover has been keeping it safe. The clock shows an impressive 21,000 miles, but there is one drawback… The battery is missing, which means that they are unsure on the working condition of the engine. However, if it really has only done 21,000 miles then it could be almost the perfect muscle car to nab at an auction.
The auction for this 1969 Plymouth GTX started on June 5 with bids open until June 18, and it seemed like it was going to fetch some serious dollar. However, On June 17, Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office posted a message on social media to say that a potential owner had come forward and the auction had been cancelled.
40+ First-World Anarchists Who Couldn’t Care Less About Your Rules

There are certain rules that are just too tempting not to break. Of course, not many people want to get in trouble on an impulse, so why not try their hand at some minor rulebreaking before they got caught breaking any big rules? These people all saw their chance to finally break a few rules and took the win – no matter how small that was.
They Said No Swimming!
Signs have a lot of visual aids. This way, even if you can’t read the sign for a reason like a language barrier, you know what the message is conveying.

Still, that doesn’t stop some people from taking these images as advice on how to exactly break the rules. This person probably wouldn’t have even thought of swimming in the snow until they saw a sign telling them that’s what they couldn’t do.
He Can’t Read!
The point of a sign is to convey a message. However, you have to make sure that everyone understands what you’re trying to say.

For anyone nearby who can read English, the sign here is clear: no seagulls allowed! The only problem with this is that one audience that can’t read that message is seagulls. However, we’re not too sure they’d listen even if they could read, so that seagull would likely enjoy that water whenever it saw fit.
There Was One Rule!
When it comes to breaking a rule, you could always just find a way around it. Taking the wording of a rule literally is a great way to find workarounds.

On the other hand, you can use this method to find new and interesting ways to break the rules as well. For instance, this label probably referred to blades like knives or box cutters. Still, that doesn’t mean that this person didn’t technically go against the grain.
Letting Them Know
There’s nothing that ruins someone’s day quite like getting pulled over and given a ticket. Sometimes, it can seem like the person writing the ticket came out of nowhere!

This is in no small part thanks to the hidden spots that police cars nestle into while officers look for those breaking the law. While this fire department couldn’t change things, they could save people from a few fines with a warning. It looks like it didn’t change the practice, though.
They Know What They Did
An engraved trophy is a great way to make something special. However, if you don’t want it engraved, that information could just get in the way.

This person made it crystal clear that they didn’t want anything engraved on the plaque. They even went so far as to state that request three times in that message. It didn’t stop the company from just printing that request on the trophy instead of actually paying attention to it.
But Why?
There are some people who break the rules for specific reasons. Maybe they think the rule is unfair or they genuinely want to see it changed.

Then there are people who break the rules just to watch the chaos that ensues. This person confessed to their favorite rule-breaking practice: putting the wrong trash bins on the curb on the wrong days. Although, we have to ask, has no one caught on yet and stopped trusting their schedule?
Not the Peas!
Everyone has foods that they do and don’t like, it’s just part of human nature. Vegetables are often found on people’s list of foods they don’t enjoy.

As for this person, they hated peas so much that they wanted everyone to know with this personalized license plate. The downside was that anyone who saw the license plate could decide to use that information for ruder means. We wonder how many times this joke has been pulled on them.
A Little Loophole
We’ve already said, if you want to find new and interesting ways to break the rules, you should look at the wording of them. There might be a few puns to enjoy.

As an example, this sign probably meant no standing on the shoulder of the road. These two decided they’d take it to the next level by standing on one another’s shoulders. Although, they are still standing on the shoulder of the road to take this picture.
Bending the Rules
There are certain rules that you can bend for good reason. After all, not every rule is as sensible as the last and things might need to change.

When this concession stand was banned from selling drinks, including water, to festival-goers, they saw how badly that could go. After all, staying hydrated is important, especially at a big event. So, they just decided to sell food but every purchase came with a free bottle of water.
No, They Won’t!
The problem with telling someone who’s stubborn that they’re wrong is that they might not listen. In the end, they might just argue against your opinion.

This billboard was taken out to help combat stubbornness, particularly when it came to getting medical tests to prevent and catch problems early. Even though it seemed a fairly one-way method of communication, one stubborn soul was determined enough to add their two cents one way or another.
Do You Promise?
If you work in an office with shared supplies, you know there might be limits. Otherwise, there’s not much stopping someone from using too much.

In this case, the one rule that people had to follow was not to print labels unnecessarily. The label maker was for use on a necessary basis only. Well, if they did that, how else would they confirm their promise? What’s the point of simply complying rather than adding a passive-aggressive touch?
Just a Play on Words
This is one rule that makes quite a bit of sense. When something is full of liquids, it’s best to avoid spilling it and causing a mess.

The person who did this rule-breaking act knew that spilling all the contents in the cabinet wouldn’t actually be that funny. So, they settled on a play on words to satisfy their rebellious streak. Leaving the cabinet a monetary tip must be allowed, right?
Time for a Joke
The art that you see when you walk through a city is often littered with gems of pieces of fantastic art. Other pieces might be a bit more simplistic.

This work with spray paint had a simple message and decided the best way to do that was to work directly. However, given that anarchy usually isn’t big on rules, there was nothing to stop someone else from refusing. Although does it count as obeying the message when the message was to disobey?
Do Signs Stop Bears?
Bears are wild animals and encounters with humans can turn out ugly. However, as humans have expanded, we’ve really pushed into the territories of wild animals like bears.

This is why you might go some places and see signs warning you about bears. There aren’t many signs that forbid bears from coming around, however. It makes sense too since bears can’t understand signs. This bear was more than happy to serve as an example of that.
That’s One Way to Interpret That
We’ve all been there. No matter how easy your name is to spell, you’ve probably received an incorrectly labeled cup of coffee from time to time.

With a name like Marc, you’d think it’d be fairly easy to make it through a coffee order. Just to make sure things were clear, they even clarified that the name was spelled with a “C.” Yet, the busy barista managed to misinterpret the comment.
Well, Why Not?
What do you do if you’re a rulebreaker but you don’t have any rules nearby to break? Well, you could always take a moment to create your own opportunities.

For instance, why not cause some chaos with your next purchase to furnish your home. You need silverware anyways, so why not label them with the wrong names? With the help of an engraver, the chaos is permanent too, so you’ll have a momento of your rule-breaking as well.
They Know
There are a lot of things labeled to make sure things go smoothly. Maybe you label your glassware in a move or a delivery advises you to act with caution.

The owner of this case knew that these rules were often left ignored, however. So, they labeled the visible parts of the case with rules not to flip it. If someone – like the person who took this picture – broke the rules, they would see a message to let them know they were caught.
Perfect Placement
There are certain motivational quotes about being yourself that we’ve all heard again and again. One such example is to “dance like no one is watching.”

As for this specific example, it seems like you don’t have a choice. While the quote is fitting for a dance studio, it usually isn’t quite so fitting that it’s placed directly under a security camera. We don’t know that the designer of this decal meant for it to be used so literally.
Just Doing Their Job
There are times that a city or other group might hire someone to cover up street art. Usually, these professionals do their job and move on.

This particular person was doing their job and it became absorbed into the artwork itself. Was it against the rules to help cover up a piece of art only to recreate it again? Maybe. Is the end result worth it? We’d have to say so!
Is That Their Name?
There are little to no rules in naming your dog. All you have to do is find the name that fits them, speaks to you, and that they learn to respond to.

Still, there are some names you can pick that might make someone do a double-take. This cute dalmatian is a great example. While the first thing you might notice is their many spots, you’ll likely be surprised when you notice their name is Stripey.
That’ll Even Things Out
There are few landmarks quite as iconic as the Leaning Tower of Pisa. After all, there aren’t many buildings that have such a characteristic feature as leaning at a significant angle.

Well, you might think that if you had a picture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in your home, you’d want the picture to lean as well. If you don’t agree with that, you could always take the path this rulebreaker did and tilt the whole frame to fix it.
Disregarded Reservations
When you jump on the subway or on a bus, there are some unwritten rules. For instance, you might stay standing if there was only one seat left and someone who needed it more got on.

Yet, there are some rules that aren’t taken as seriously. No one is really going to pay attention to the rules an ad lays out. This person certainly wasn’t when they sat down and took on the sourest expression possible in claiming this seat.
“America Mix”
Around the Fourth of July, the times you see in American grocery stores take on more of a red, white, and blue theme. After all, it’s a commonly celebrated holiday.

However, not all of these items are as exclusive to America as they claim. At the end of the day, the colors red, white, and blue are used by a number of different countries. That’s why it was no trouble at all for this person to create a Union Jack with this “America Mix.”
Jokes on You
Once again, we have a rule-breaker that might not actually be a rule-breaker. Still, they’re pretty good at making a play on words.

The sign here is probably focused more on vans, as in the vehicle, with high clearances. Yet, when this person stumbled upon it, they just so happened to be in possession of a couple of high-top Vans of their own. They knew that this was their chance to flaunt the rules a little or at least their sense of humor.
Watch Out Everybody
When it comes to riding on a method of public transport, you might have to follow some rules, depending on where you ride. For this vehicle, the rules were no food.

In case you forgot, they had plenty of pictures around the car to remind you. This person decided to take their rule-breaking to a literal level when they boarded with this snack. We have to wonder if it was worth it to carry these sausages like this.
Eyes on the Enemy
There are some brands that don’t get away from their competitors very often. Not many people think about Coca-Cola without thinking of Pepsi in short order.

When this person went to the Coca-Cola Museum, they wanted to make sure their interests were clear. Not to be confused with a big Coke fan, they wanted people to know that despite their curiosity, they were a fan of Pepsi instead.
Very Funny
While there are pieces of vandalism with greater symbolism or meaning, there are some pieces of vandalism that are just there for the sake of flaunting the rules.

In the case of this picture, it looks like the focus was also to irritate anyone who saw it too. Not only is it completely unnecessary, but it also contradicts itself enough that you won’t feel anything but a little annoyed once you read it through.
That’s One Way to Handle That
If you order a footlong at Subway, you might not be able to eat it all right away. Yet, it makes a great snack for later if you save whatever you have left!

For many people, this means cutting your sandwich in half putting half away for later. More specifically, the sandwich is usually cut in half by width, not by length. This person tried things another way, not even bothering with a knife. Even Subway was startled!
Just to be Mean
If there’s one trend that continues to persist, it’s people taking pictures of their Starbucks order. Usually, this is to post online and show others what you’ve ordered.

Yet, a misplaced label can ruin the aesthetic that these amateur photographers are aiming for. This person just couldn’t watch it any longer and used the label placement to their advantage. We wonder how long it took for them to become this fed up with Instagram posts like this.
Rescinding Thanks
There are certain things that are there to remind you of what you’re supposed to do. This particular sign was there to remind and thank drivers for being careful.

Sadly, it seems like they might have offered thanks to a little too prematurely. Even worse, it had to be salt in the wound for the person dealing with this added problem to their day. At least it made for a moment of levity during stress.
Interesting Hobby
Most people want to avoid getting pulled over while they’re driving. After all, it’s not a great part of anyone’s day and it can come with a hefty price.

This person decided that they could use this time to cause a little trouble for local law enforcement. At the very least, they aimed to confuse a few of them. With these iPhone cookies, it’s easy to trick people into thinking you’re driving and talking on the phone, for some reason.
There Are No Rules
If your knives are labeled with food names, it’s probably a hint at what they’re best at cutting. This, for instance, is a cheese knife.

Still, that doesn’t mean that there are any laws against using those knives for whatever foods you see fit. No one is going to stop this person from slicing up an onion with a cheese knife. Yet, it might not be the best thing for your knives.
The Spirit of Halloween
Dorm living comes with plenty of rules that don’t exist living in a home or an apartment. One rule is that you usually can’t keep a pumpkin for Halloween.

This is usually to prevent open flames and rotting gourds from littering the dorm halls. Still, the specific wording benefitted this student greatly. It meant that there was nothing specifically forbidding them from carving a pineapple to keep the spirit of Halloween alive.
Working Against It
Internet comments can be a scary place to dive into. After all, even the cutest and most wholesome videos can harbor some of the most cursed comments.

Usually, creators and mods want to work to make a space better rather than less hospitable to people who visit it. On the other hand, you could use your power for evil. This person took the time to ban people who were nice in the live chat just to cause a problem.
Thinking About It
There are some times that you might not want to break the rules but it’s still fun to edge close to the line without crossing it.

This person wouldn’t actually touch the thermostat, respecting the spirit of this rule. However, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t cross the line of thinking about touching the thermostat, even if it wasn’t to change the temperature. We’re sure this joke made a few people roll their eyes.
This Can’t Fail
There’s something to be said for an ability to work smarter rather than harder. Why waste your time when you can get an effective result otherwise?

This student might not have felt solid on their number placement but they were definitely after an A+ at the end of the day. As such, they made sure they had the number in every place, so there was no way they could fail. Technically, they’re right.
Oh, Okay
Private parties might use signs of their own just like public property features. This could be used for a variety of reasons from marking private property to advertising a yard sale.

The person who made this sign obviously just wanted to cause a little frustration. At the end of the day, if you read it, you’ve inherently broken the rule of the sign. We wonder if they ever bothered to see if anyone had a reaction to it.
Absolute Refusal
Having a whiteboard in public is a dicey matter. It’s pretty handy but you’d have to keep a close eye on the markers to avoid them from disappearing.

This particular whiteboard owner found themselves missing one of the basic elements of their kit before too long. What were they to do without their black marker? They already tried to make a cry for help but the thief only taunted their efforts.
They Don’t Care
There’s little you can do to stop a dog that isn’t yours. After all, it takes training and discipline from a dog to earn obedience and the owner has to train them.

They definitely won’t listen to a sign, no matter how much you train them. At the end of the day, dogs just can’t read. Still, the sign probably isn’t meant for the dog to read but the owner taking this picture of their dog sitting in this off-limits area.
He Does What He Wants
Whether you recognize him as Caleb from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or as Malcolm in Firefly, Nathan Fillion is a pretty recognizable man.

As this Instagram post shows, he isn’t going to be stopped by monsters or a printed sign telling him what to do. When this sign informed everyone there’s be no autographs or photos in this area, he couldn’t help but take a second to break the rules.
They’re Running Out!
There are certain things that businesses need that you might not think about. For instance, the letters that they use in their signs.

This business was reaching the end of their rope with rule-breakers who kept stealing letters from them. In fact, they had so few letters left that they had to improvise quite a bit for this final plea. We wonder if the letters were ever returned or if they stopped stealing them.
Sorry, Apple
Social media has become a big part of marketing for big brands. After all, it’s an instantaneous and natural way to communicate anymore. There are a few drawbacks, though.

One of these includes the fact that social media is, by its nature, interactive. As for this post from Apple Music, they were probably looking for artists or genres. They definitely weren’t hoping for someone to use the question to roast them by comparing them to such a successful competitor.
What Are the Rules?
If you walk up to a vending machine anymore, you might see that you have to make a choice between cash or card. Other machines may only take one option.

As for this machine, the rules are fairly unclear. The top sign asserts that you can only use your debit or credit card. Then, the scanner itself says that cash is the only option. If you try to insert cash, you’re stopped by yet another sticker that argues against cash.
Sick of the Joke
There are some names that tend to tempt people too much to make a joke. Unfortunately, that clever moment is played out quickly for the person who actually has the name.

Poor Dr. Hedgeh here probably worked hard to get to the position they’re in. Even the name sign on the door wasn’t immune to the joke! They tried to leave a note up but the rule-breaker only saw this as a new opportunity to push this person’s limits.
Just a Reminder
Testing, in general, can come with a lot of rules. For example, you aren’t allowed to cheat, you might not be allowed to talk, and you should follow the instructions.

Of course, all those rules can get pretty tiring after a while. All this teacher needed their students to do was write their answers inside the box on the page. That didn’t stop one student from taking the requirement to a more philosophical and rebellious level than the teacher probably expected.
