Have you ever seen the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri? If so, then you may be all too aware of using billboards to get your point across. It seems as though this Chinese ride-hailing company also took inspiration from the movie when they put up billboards to demand refunds on their Teslas.
Buying A Lot Of Cars
Shenma Zhuanche is a Chinese ride-hailing company that decided they’d one-up Uber and Lyft by investing in Teslas. After all, everyone wants to ride around in a Tesla, don’t they? The company purchased a whopping 278 cars to bolster their offerings in China, but they encountered a problem. According to the company, more than 20% of all the cars they had purchased from Tesla had experienced “electro-mechanical failures.” That’s over 50 of their 278 cars with issues!

Costing Them Money
On their official Weibo account, Shenma Zhuanche explained that they were often waiting around 45 days for service on their vehicles, costing the company around 6.5 million yuan – just under a million dollars! They went on to explain on the Chinese social media site that the Tesla efficiency is low with delays in solving vehicle problems, that were costing them money. Instead of just posting on social media, however, Shenma Zhuanche decided to go one step further.

Billboards In Times Square
In order to air their grievances with Tesla, the Chinese company decided to pay for some billboards in Times Square to get their message across – loud and clear. With three billboards on the Reuters’ Times Square HQ, probably costing them a fair amount of money, they’ve certainly caused a stir. The billboards demanded that Tesla provided better customer service and even compensation for the problems they’ve encountered. Along with this, employees from Shenma took signs to a Tesla store in Chengdu and read out a statement, again echoing the sentiments on the billboards.
At this point in time, Tesla has refused to comment on what is happening. However, Shenma Zhuanche have certainly drawn attention to the issues. Tesla… The ball is in your court!
40+ Common Objects With a Twist That Caught Our Attention
Floor Tiles With a Twist
These aren’t your average floor tiles — they are floor tiles with a twist. The interior designer of this post office must have been having a great day when they sourced these envelope-shaped tiles.

Not only do they look cute, but they are also highly relevant. We love a themed décor moment! Or maybe the shape of the tiles was merely a spooky coincidence? Either way, whoever took this photo seemed to think they were cool. We have to agree.
Broken Pencil Sharpener
This pencil sharpener does not quite achieve its purpose. Yes, it lengthens the lead of the pencil, but it doesn’t quite make it sharp. It somehow manages to leave a long, protruding lead, without snapping the pencil. This is certainly one normal, everyday object that seems ever-so-slightly off.

You definitely would not want to have this in your pencil case in class, unless you’re the kind of student who will take any opportunity to slack off and do zero work!
Sushi Roll Stools
From one piece of themed décor to another! We love these sushi roll shaped stools! Imagine walking into your local Asian restaurant to see these adorable seats. It would be difficult for any sushi lover to resist stealing one of these for their kitchen at home.

Who needs a regular stool when you can have one shaped like a piece of makizushi? Although, sitting down on one of these bad boys is bound to make you hungry! Who wants one?!
The Twisted Carrot
Oddly shaped fruits and vegetables can get a bad rap. It’s normal to walk into the grocery store to see deformed veggies at a discounted price, even though they taste like any other piece of produce.

People seem to hate items with any kind of physical abnormality, just like this curly carrot. Don’t discriminate against weird fruits and vegetables! They’re just like normal items, except they come with a fun twist! Imagine what you could make with one of these.
Credit Card Catastrophe
This person could not believe their eyes when they opened their mailbox to see a stack of letters from the bank. At first, they thought they were a victim of fraud, but then they realized that they had been on the receiving end of a clerical error.

They ended up with 27 copies of the same credit card. If the bank sends you multiple copies of the same card, does that mean you get unlimited money? Asking for a friend.
The Golden Spider
This is definitely a spider with a twist. This odd creature looks like something from a fantasy film or a creepy Edgar Allen Poe story! The golden creature is not a computer-generated image.

In fact, it is actually a real spider. This insect could potentially be a yellow sac spider, or a baby golden orb weaver spider! These venomous creatures are quite dangerous, so it’s best to steer clear of them, if you ever see one in the wild!
Not Your Average Barcode
The barcode on the back of a product is never particularly interesting. It typically consists of a series of lines followed by a numerical code, which allows the object to be identified by retailers. Sometimes, manufacturers like to add a twist to their barcodes.

The makers of this product decided to incorporate a fun doodle onto their barcode, showing a lawnmower cutting some blades of grass. The product was probably some kind of grass seed or fertilizer. Relevant and adorable!
Grandma’s Giant Microwave
Now, this is what you call a microwave with a twist. This person was over at their beloved granny’s house for Friday night dinner, when they made a startling discovery — her microwave was double the size of a normal oven!

Who needs a microwave this big, unless they are catering for the population of an entire village? Imagine how many bags of microwave popcorn you could make in this ginormous appliance. You could feed the whole family for movie night!
Clever USB Stick
Every student has experienced the frustrating sensation of inserting your USB memory stick into the USB port of a computer, only to find that there is no storage to save your homework projects and assignments. This USB stick comes with a handy twist.

It has a bar icon on the front of the device, showing how much storage space has been used so far. We can’t help but wonder — why doesn’t every USB memory stick come with this feature?
Genius Bike Cover
Keen cyclists will love this next item on the list! No one likes getting caught in the rain when they are riding their bike to work. With this handy bike cover, never again will you have to make the soggy walk of shame into the office.

The plastic cover extends to provide protection for the entire bicycle and the rider, and it’s complete with a fully functioning roof! It’s the perfect thoughtful gift for any bike fanatic in your life.
Accessible Rubik’s Cube
This Rubik’s cube is designed with accessibility in mind. The designer of this object decided to tweak the original design by experimenting with different textures, to signify the traditional colored squares. People with sight problems can use their sense of touch to identify the common features on each square and complete the puzzle.

It’s great that visually impaired gamers are being considered for once, as toys like this are not always accessible for everyone. It’s an addictive game for all!
Clever Napkin Hack
This restaurant has a unique approach to customer service. Gone are the days of clamoring for the attention of underpaid servers. At this eatery, all you have to do is flip your napkin to face the right way up.

One side of the napkin reads, “This side up if you are happy and satisfied for now,” while the other side states, “This side up if you need help from our servers.” This clever system takes the stress out of dining!
The Twisted Tree
This list is all about everyday objects with a twist. However, this palm tree has taken the theme quite literally. It has grown with a pine tree wrapped around the base of the trunk, weaved in an unusual pattern. This unique phenomenon proves that nature works in mysterious ways.

Sometimes strange things happen right in front of our eyes, and it seems crazy enough to take out your phone and snap a picture. Imagine what things were like before camera phones!
Check the Water’s Reflection
Whoever designed this sign is one clever individual. At first glance, the letters seem scrambled and back-to-front. However, if you look carefully, you will see the letters reflected on the surface of the water. The sign can then be read perfectly!

Although, we can’t help but wonder why there needed to be a sign here in the first place. ‘The Pond’ is obviously a pond! At least the sign adds a fun twist to the dark landscape of the forest.
Unicorn on the Cob
It’s safe to say that corn on the cob is a truly delicious treat, enjoyed by people young and old. This bizarre, unicorn-shaped corn on the cob holder adds some childish whimsy to the often-awkward experience of eating this veggie snack.

We’ve all been there — you’re munching on a corn on the cob, trying to grip the cob without getting covered in butter and getting corn kernels stuck in your teeth. This magical unicorn will solve all of your problems!
No More Bald Tires
Driving worn-down tires is a recipe for disaster. Some people don’t even realize that their tires are bald until they have been berated by their mechanic! These tires come with an excellent design twist.

They have a ‘replace tire’ message ingrained in the rubber, which will only be revealed after the tread on the tires has been worn down. If only all tires had this feature, the road would be a much safer place and fewer accidents would happen.
Unique Kids Bathroom Design
Public bathrooms are often designed to be purely functional, with no fancy twists to make the experience of using one more pleasant! This is the exception to the rule. Whoever designed this public bathroom decided to customize the side of the door frames to make the bathrooms easier for children to use.

The tiny door is cut to approximately the height of your average grade-schooler. This bathroom was designed with the user in mind. It’s cute and practical!
Separating M&Ms by Color
There’s a debate raging on the internet surrounding the flavor of M&M candies. Some people believe that the various colors have different tastes. However, other people firmly maintain that the colors all taste exactly the same.

Technically, the latter argument is correct, as all M&Ms are coated in the same unflavored sugar shell. But, some people prefer their candies to be separated into the various colors. This person couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw this grocery store display!
The Invisible Man
No, this is not an image of someone who has fallen face-first into their laundry basket. The image actually shows a pair of regular pants, which have been placed on top of an air conditioning vent!

The air has inflated the pants to make it look like someone is wearing them. Imagine walking into your bathroom and being greeted by this bizarre sight! It would definitely give you a fright. This person simply couldn’t help but take a picture of it!
Soda With a Twist
This refreshing-looking soda can comes with a unique twist. It’s not made of clear plastic. The grape-flavored drink is actually encased in a glass jar! The glass jar has a ring pull that looks like any other regular can, so you can drink a soda while feeling like a sophisticated gentleman/lady!

Would you replace your favorite soda with one of these fancy glass cans? Or does this seem like some kind of cheap advertising gimmick?
Enter the Serpent’s Chamber
Would you be brave enough to grasp the golden snakes and pull open these menacing doors? These door handles were designed as a fun feature for a reptile house in Leeds, England. Who needs boring metallic door handles when you can have life-sized shiny snakes, complete with scales?

However, if you are someone with ophidiophobia (an extreme fear of snakes) you might want to steer clear of this establishment. Opening these doors would be a terrifying experience for snake haters.
Cat Carrying Backpack
Transporting your beloved pet on public transport can be a truly nerve-wracking experience, especially if you have to jump on a packed subway train. Rather than cram their kitty into a conventional pet carrier, this cat mom decided to take a more unconventional approach.

She invested in a clear cat backpack, complete with air holes for her favorite feline. It may look like a prop from some kind of low-budget 1950’s sci-fi movie, but it’s perfecting for carrying pets.
Flurry of Frozen Flowers
No, this is not a still from Disney’s 2013 hit animated movie about warring princess sisters and singing snowmen. This image shows what happens when blooms are met with sub-zero temperatures. These flowers were frozen and perfectly preserved within the ice.

This would make the perfect photo for any edgy teenager’s Instagram page, complete with an emotional caption. There are so many metaphors that could be applied to this photograph, when it’s really just a picture of some cold plants.
Clever Color-Coded Baskets
Here’s another example of how to use unconventional design choices to create a more streamlined consumer experience. The big bosses at this grocery store wanted to make the lives of the customers and staff easier by introducing a clever color code system for baskets.

You simply pick up a red basket if you are open to being assisted, and a black basket if you would rather shop undisturbed. Feeling antisocial or shy? You know exactly which one to choose!
The Chairs Fit Perfectly
Just when you think the world of furniture has been pushed to its limits, you are met with another clever design hack. This is a dining table and chair set with a twist! The table and chairs are designed so that they fit perfectly into each other.

The curved seats slide underneath the table, creating a sleek and modern look. If you’re bored of boring rectangular tables and ugly chairs, why not pick out something like this from IKEA?
Orange Juice Faucet
If you’re a health freak, you will probably understand the obsession with freshly squeezed orange juice. It may be full of sugar, but at least it’s the natural kind!

If you have ever wished that you could start every day with a glass of freshly squeezed OJ at the breakfast table, you’re in luck. This orange comes with a built-in tap, allowing you to squeeze and go! No mess, no stress. If only this was something that would work IRL.
Sink With No Hole
Imagine trying to brush your teeth or wash your face in one of these sinks. It wouldn’t exactly work, would it? Unless you’re a chaotic type who loves mess, you’ll want to stay clear of this impractically designed sink.

It was probably created as an art project, representing a social commentary on classism or existentialism that we’re not exactly smart enough to understand. Or maybe the designer just forgot to install the plug hole. Either way, this sink is weird.
Never Going to Work
This picture of a wooden saw will probably leave you feeling confused. Unless you know absolutely nothing about carpentry or woodwork, in which case, you will probably scroll past this image without a care in the world.

This wooden saw is not fit for purpose. We can only imagine this is another one of those artistic images making a statement about how to live without fitting in with the crowd. Be a wooden saw in a world of metal ones!
Hot Can of Coffee
If you are a coffee fanatic, you will most likely find this image to be repulsive. It shows two hot, steaming mugs of java, sealed with the metal ring-pull of a tin can.

There’s something about the combination of the ceramic crockery set and the metallic can lid that makes us feel all kinds of uncomfortable. We don’t recommend trying to recreate this strange object at home. Just go to the coffee shop and order a regular cappuccino instead.
Hole in One
Sports lovers will find this image to be infuriating. Imagine getting set up for an exhilarating game of ping-pong, only to find a perfect ball-shaped hole in the center of the bat!

Something tells us that you would end up losing that match. This certainly qualifies for the list of ‘weirdest everyday objects with a twist.’ It looks like someone has carefully cut this hole out of the bat, although we have no idea why. Maybe they just hate ping-pong?
Pointless Cutlery Set
This everyday object has another impractical twist. Table manners are important in Western culture. In most regions of Europe and North America, you are expected to be able to hold a knife, fork, and spoon in order to eat your food politely.

This nautical-inspired cutlery set is rather confusing, to say the least. The handle of each piece is made of a length of rope. It doesn’t make any sense. Would you try using these weird knives and forks?
Square Rolling Pin
When it comes to everyday objects with a twist, it doesn’t get much more impractical than this square rolling pin. It would be impossible to roll out a perfect sheet of dough when you can’t rotate your pin. Sure, you could flatten each section by pressing the flat surface against the dough. But, who has time for that?

Baking is already complicated enough, with all the measurements, timings, and quantities. This square rolling pin simply doesn’t make any sense.
The Cyclops Sunglasses
We are not even sure how to refer to this everyday object with a twist. This piece of eyewear seems designed with a mythical cyclops in mind! It almost looks like a regular pair of sunglasses, but there is only one lens, located in the center of the frames.

We can’t help but think that maybe it is an avant-garde fashion statement? Who knows, with kids these days and their weird TikTok style trends, anything goes! Would you wear these?
Super Mario Mushrooms
These mushrooms look like they have been plucked from a Mario video game or magical fairytale story! These objects don’t appear to be from the natural world. It looks like someone has grabbed some regular mushrooms and painted over them to create these otherworldly items.

Maybe they have been stolen from the props department of a play or movie! Either way, whoever came up with this idea must have been a fun guy. Get it? Like fungi? We’ll see ourselves out…
Llama Sunshade
Sunshades are wonderful inventions. These nifty objects can be attached to the windshield or side window of a vehicle, to block out the sun and reduce the temperate inside the car. On warm days, they are perfect for preventing that sweaty car feeling.

They can also help protect children and animals who are vulnerable to extreme heat. This llama print sunshade comes with a twist, as it looks like your car has an unexpected furry passenger on board!
Pizza Flavored Lip Balm
Okay, this everyday object with a twist is one of the most disgusting items on the list. Imagine going in for a kiss, only to discover that your date is wearing pizza-flavored lip balm. Whether it is tuna fish or pepperoni, the smell of pizza does not put someone in the mood for smooching.

We can’t help but think that the inventor of this monstrosity is an evil genius. Would you want to kiss someone wearing pizza lip balm?
Ear-Shaped Lollipop
Nirvana may have written a song called “Heart-Shaped Box,” but no one has ever penned an ode to an ear-shaped lollipop. And it’s easy to see why; this object is almost too weird to be real.

Eating something shaped like a body part will always seem strange, even if it tastes really good. However, this would be the perfect gift for that ignorant person in your life who never seems to listen to you when you are speaking.
Ladder Shaped Straw
From ear-shaped lollipops to ladder-shaped straws, this list of everyday objects with a twist just seems to get progressively weirder. This invention seems completely pointless, but we have to admit that it looks pretty cute.

This would be the perfect addition to any pool party, to serve alongside fruit punch or cocktails! But, we hope that these straws are reusable, because single-use plastics are destroying the planet! Why not step into summer with some cute novelty straws?
Waste Paper Basket With Feet
Waste paper baskets and trash cans are not the most aesthetically pleasing objects in the world. Designers are always thinking of new and innovative ways to make these ugly everyday objects look a little bit nicer in homes and on our streets.

This is certainly one interesting way to liven up a regular trash can. The designer decided to place a pair of realistic, paw-like feet onto these trash cans. Although, we sadly must admit that they still look ugly.
Flip-Flops or Dress Shoes?
Sometimes, it can be difficult to gauge the dress code at a social event or gathering. Have you ever attended a pool party at a fancy mansion, and struggled to decide what kind of footwear to put on?

Consider your problem solved! These shoes are a hybrid of dress shoes and flip-flops, so you can rock that smart-casual dress code without a care in the world. Warning — we only recommend these shoes for those who don’t care about receiving criticism.
Earbud Sand Monster
This person was relaxing at the beach, when suddenly, they made a creepy discovery. They reached down to pick up their earbud, only to find a mass of black material had gathered over the outside of the casing. However, all was not as it seemed.

It turned out that this weird phenomenon was actually iron! The magnets in the earbuds had drawn iron out of the sand, making it stick to the outside of the bud. Weird, but cool!
Pizza Dough Planet
This person had their heart set on creating the perfect pizza dough. The end result was out of this world! They mixed the ingredients, kneaded the dough, and left it to prove in a drawer for a couple of hours.

When they lifted the bowl out of the drawer, they were met with a moon-shaped globe of dough that had risen far beyond the confines of the mixing bowl! They snapped a photo of their creation and posted it online.
Instagram-Friendly Washing Machine
Have you ever seen such an aesthetically pleasing washing machine?! This appliance was created to look like the old Instagram logo. It resembles a vintage polaroid camera, with the drum of the washer representing the camera lens.

No hipster laundry room would be complete without one of these in the corner. Rumor has it, that if you put a regular shirt in this washer, it comes out like a checked flannel. It’s a washing machine with a super trendy twist!
Lipstick or Battery?
The design of this lipstick could potentially lead to some sticky situations. The casing looks exactly like the outer shell of a battery! Someone needs to tell the CEO of Moxielash that their product design could lead to some lawsuits.

Nobody wants to be putting battery acid near their face, and no one wants to put a tube of lipstick into the back of their television remote. Or maybe this is a marketing tool to make their product seem interesting?
Stegosaurus in the Sky
When you were a kid, you probably lay on the grass and tried to find shapes in the clouds. Whoever took this photo felt like they had stepped back in time to their childhood when they spotted this dinosaur in the sky!

They could not believe their eyes when they noticed the perfectly shaped figure of a stegosaurus. It almost seems like a hallucination. Can you see the outline of the creature in the gray clouds?
